Our Story: Healing, Rescue, and Community
Every great mission begins with a single act of compassion. For Jim Larson, it began with a tiny white colt that no one else believed in.A Paint horse breeder once had a newborn white colt. Believing he might be a lethal white or a carrier of Overo Lethal White Syndrome — a fatal genetic disorder — the breeder planned to put him down. Jim stepped in and offered to buy the foal, not to lose him, but to rescue him. That tiny white colt grew into a stunning white stallion, full of strength and spirit. Jim named him White Knight.White Knight became one of the farm's very first rescues — and the inspiration for a nonprofit dedicated to the belief that every life is worth saving. That single act of compassion gave a name, a soul, and a purpose to everything that followed.Jim Larson founded White Knight Therapeutic Equestrian Center & Rescue in April 2025, driven by a lifelong love for horses, farm animals, and a deep heart for serving people through healing and empathy. With decades of experience as an equestrian center owner, Jim combined his passion for animals with a calling to serve — creating a place where rescued animals and healing programs could exist side by side.Today, White Knight Therapeutic Equestrian Center & Rescue operates at Forest View Farms in Tinley Park, Illinois, offering therapeutic programs, farm-based experiences, and animal rescue services to children, families, veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities or special needs. We are proud to be a member of PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), reflecting our commitment to the highest standards in therapeutic equestrian programming.
